OUR STAY AT WINDFLOWER RESORT AND SPA IN COORG

We went to Coorg some time back and our trip was planned totally in haste as our sole purpose was to escape from the humdrum of everyday life. I quickly googled some hill stations near Bangalore and finally zeroed in on Coorg. Now, my next step was to find a perfect resort. You won’t believe how much I searched for the perfect resort for one whole day as I didn’t want my trip to get ruined by staying at some average place. After so much research, I came across the Windflower Resort and Spa and upon my suggestion my hubby booked a Studio Room for 3 Nights and 4 Days – AP Plan which includes Breakfast, lunch and diner.

From where shall I start as my stay at Windflower was something which was beyond amazing and words just cannot express how magical and mesmerizing the overall trip to Coorg was?

The Location:

We booked a cab to Coorg from Bangalore and it took us around six hours to reach there. Located at an distance of 258 km from Bangalore, Windflower Resort and Spa is spread across the sprawling 25 acres amidst the tranquil and lush green coffee and tea estates. This resort was one kms off from the main highway in Suntikoppa. And I must let you know that one km road to the resort was dusty and very bumpy. Our car pulled up right in front of the Resort’s main entrance and wow was the first thing that I uttered to my husband in hushed tones.

Checking In:

My husband and I arrived at the resort mid afternoon. From the moment we drove in, we were totally mesmerized by the beautiful landscapes, the zigzag path surrounded by the dense trees which led to the reception area. The reception was beautifully designed with a signature Buddha statue and many small water bodies. We received a warm welcome and were given warm towels and famous Kodagu black coffee to refresh us from the journey. Our check-in was very fast and within minutes all the formalities were done and our luggage was quickly whisked to our room. We were escorted to our room by one of their staffs. The Resort has a total of 44 rooms which are divided into three categories – Windflower Studio, Windflower Suite and Windflower Villa.

Our Room:

We stayed in a Studio Room which was very expansive and perfect for a couple. The room had wooden floor which lends an aesthetic feel to the room. The bed was king size and fluffy.

Our Bedroom:

The room had all the modern amenities you would expect from a Five Star resort. Some more information, just in case, if you were interested in knowing. Our room had a mini-bar, a tea and coffee maker, electronic safe, LCD TV, a pop in DVD, bottles of water, two fluffy robes, two pair of slippers and what not! Overall, I really loved the styling of my room. There was a separate place in the porch area for keeping luggage and footwear.

Bathroom:

The spacious bathroom was elegantly designed and the luxurious toiletries took our overall experience even further.

Luxurious toiletries:

One very cool thing about bathroom was that there were two showers. One was a glass steam shower cube, and the other was an open to sky rain shower and we tried both.

Sit out Area:

Our room had a huge private balcony where we used to spend time gossiping around and looking at the mesmerizing view of coffee plantations while having Coorgi coffee.

We could feel the aroma of Coffee and spices from our balcony itself.

This was my favorite place in the resort. The expansive Infinity pool under towering teak and rosewood trees was clean and crystal clear and was surrounded by the sun loungers. Oh I still remember how we spent so much time relaxing by the pool and soaking up the sun.

The Emerge Spa:

The resort comes with it’s very own Emerge Spa which was in a separate building in a secluded and serene area. We were treated to full body Abhyanga Sweda Massage performed by amazing therapists. Indeed it was just a perfect place to revitalize and refresh oneself.

The Pond:

There was a vast and tranquil pond too inside the resort surrounded by lush greenery. Being an animal and bird lover, I spent a lot of time here playing with the ducks and rabbits.

The Food:

I totally liked the open air Dining Restaurant which was overlooking the infinity pool. The best part was that the Head Chef pampered us with the choicest dishes from the Continental, Asian and Indian cuisines. Be it the breakfast, Lunch or Dinner, the spread was huge and delicious.

Plantation Walk:

We went for one hour guided plantation tour within the resort itself. And learnt so much about the coffee, cocoa, cardamom, oranges, betel that grow within the estate.

Activities:

Apart from swimming and plantation walks, you can indulge in many other activities like Yoga Classes sessions which is at 8 in the morning which we gave a miss as it was a big deal for us getting up this much early. You can also indulge in indoor games like pool, chess, carom, table tennis, cycling and cooking with the chefs.

My Verdict of Windflower Resort and Spa

My verdict is a big resounding thumbs up. Our stay at Windflower is something which we haven’t forgotten till date. An amazingly flawless trip from start to finish and we both left the resort feeling totally relaxed and rejuvenated.  A well maintained clean and incredibly beautiful property. We would definitely love to go there again and again. One thing which sets this resort apart is the service, which was beyond 5 star according to me. The staff took personal efforts to to make us feel comfortable in every possible manner. I still remember Mr Nand kumar, the head chef there, who went out of the way in taking care of us and also Mr Kumar, who took us on Spice trail.
